Bandcamp Music ITALY

Bandcamp is a free subscrition site for artists and music fans:
Here you can find the most exciting new music in the world: it's not a manner of speaking, but a hard truth... I'm a bandcamp addict...

Logan Vath
http://loganvath.bandcamp.com/album/better-man-or-ghost
Sam Hart and his cats (not only the black one!)
http://blinktwice4y.bandcamp.com/album/ink
Uniform Motion
Gerard and The Watchmen
Phenomenal Cats
Holm
and my first Bancamp friend:
Sam Pickering Pick
these are just a few names of the artists I met:
Here's the Bandcamp tokonoma in my library:
Because artists are not only great musicians, but very kind people, they like to thank each single supporter/fan. So I've got a lot of mails and some letters...
And these albums
are all signed by artists.

There are projects that lead to beautiful artworks like this one (by Phenomenal Cat):
and a lot of things you can discover only through Bandcamp (sign for free and look for your music: acoustic, rock, pop, metal, hip-pop, folk and so on).

In Bandcamp you can find the true meaning of music like art, so if you love music and you don't search new artists through Bandcamp: you're not so in love with music...
There's only one choice! Take a breath and have a seat here with a good book and beautiful music:
(right side: Sam Hart's black cat in a picture)*

Forgive me: Epilogues, French for Rabbits, Joy of Painting and all the artists you can find here: https://bandcamp.com/cabaretbisanzio
Many thanks to all of you.

*There was a horrible book in this library, now it is in the garbage (the book by J. Dicker, of course)

Ditry Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan

They Might Be Giants e The Feelies

Divertente l'ultimo disco dei They might be giants, "Join Us", melodie allegre, adatte alla stagione estiva, forse non troppo pensato e introspettivo, ma bello.
Un altro disco, arrivatomi mentre ero via, è "Here Before", dei The Feelies. Per me è sufficiente.

sabato 30 aprile 2011

Oggi è sabato (The pains of being pure at heart e altro).

Il gruppo si chiama The Pains of Being Pure at Heart e l'album prende il titolo dalla prima traccia, o viceversa, "Belong". When you came from the door/ I was sure you never felt the floor".

Cake, The Decemeberists e Iron & Wine: tre splendide gemme.

“We’re half-awake in a fake empire
We’re half-awake in a fake empire
”
The National
The National (citato qui all’inizio), "Federal Funding": You'll receive the federal funding, you can have a hefty grant / Strategize this presentation, make them see that you're the man.

Cake Showroom of Compassion

I'm so sick of you
so sick of me
I don't want to be with you

I'm so sick of you
so sick of me
I don't want to be with you

I want to fly away
I want to fly away

I'm so sick of work
so sick of play
I don't need another day

I'm so sick of work
so sick of play
I don't need another day

I need to fly away
I need to fly away

Every shiny toy
That at first brings you joy
Will always start to croy and annoy

Every camera every phone
All the music that you own
Won't change the fact you're all alone (All alone! )

Every piece of land
every city that you plan
will crumble into tiny grains of sand

Every thing you find that at first gives you shine
always turns into the same old crime (Same old crime! )

I want to fly away
I want to fly away
I need to fly away
I need to fly away

(I'm so sick of you
so sick of me
I don't want to be with you)
(I'm so sick of you
so sick of me
I don't want to be with you)

Every little dance
Every hidden back romance
All alone (All alone! )
All alone

Jason Collett Rat A Tat Tat

Uscito vari mesi fa, Rat A Tat Tat conferma tutte le qualità dimostrate da Jason Collet nel precedente Here's to being here (un concetto chiaro direi).

In the golden age of love's architecture
Shakespear was lying drunk in a ditch
scribbling out his rapture
or getting his pocket picked

he said, love is the subscribtion
passion's what its worth
greed is a conviction
love's a dirty word
you get hung and you get hurted
love is a dirty word

from a bird's eye view you can see it
It's sublime and it's absurd
you can buy it and you can sell it
but nobody's figured out how to make it work

you can talk about it like a lawyer
you can call it a crush
but in the end it's all buried treasure
underneath the mud
it brings down to earth
love is a dirty world

down the snakes and up the ladders
black eyed Mona is my cructh
the mission bell warned me of disaster
but I'm still waiting on the sucker punch

love is a dirty word
you get blind and you get burned
you get hung and you get hurt
but it brings you down to earth

Josh Ritter So Runs The World Away

He opens his eyes
Falls in love at first sight
With the girl in the doorway
What beautiful lines
Heart full of life
After thousands of years, what a face to wake up to

He holds back a sigh
As she touches his arm
She dusts off the bed where til now he's been sleeping
Under miles of stone
The dried fig of his heart
Under scarab and bone
Starts back to it's beating

She carries him home
In a beautiful boat
He watches the sea from a porthole in stowage
He can hear all she says
As she sits by his bed
And one day his lips answered her
In her own language
The days quickly pass
He loves making her laugh
The first time he moves it's her hair that he touches
She asks "Are you cursed?"
He says "I think that I'm cured."
Then he talks of the Nile and the girls in bulrushes

In New York he is laid
In a glass covered case
He pretends he is dead
People crowd round to see him
But at night she comes round
And the two wander down the halls of the tomb
That she calls a museum
But he stops to rest
Then less and less
Then it's her that looks tired
Staying up asking questions
He learns how to read
From the papers that she is writing about him
Then he makes corrections
It's his face on her book
More come to look
Families from Iowa
Upper West-Siders
Then one day it's too much
He decides to get up
Then as chaos ensues he walks outside to find her
She is using a cane
And her face looks too pale
But she's happy to see him
As they walk he supports her
She asks "Are you cursed?"
But his answer is obscured
In a sandstorm of flashbulbs
And rowdy reporters

Such reanimation
The two tour the nation
He gets out of limos
Meets other women
He speaks of her fondly
Their nights in the museum
She's just one more rag now he's dragging behind him
She stops going out
She just lies there in bed
In hotels in whatever towns they are speaking
Then her face starts to set
And her hands start to fold
Then one day the dried fig of her heart stops its beating

Long ago on the ship
She asked "Why pyramids?"
He said "Think of them as an immense invitation."
She asks "Are you cursed?"
He says "I think that I'm cured."
Then he kissed her and hoped
That she'd forget that question

Jukebox The Ghost

You've got your guards and they've got their guns,
they're overworked and you've never ever won a thing in your life.
I've got my dreams and I've got my sleep
and I've been promised a pill that's going to keep these visions of
an empire at peace.
'Cause my heart is my keep and you are threatening me.

Oh my god, you're the one I've been holding out
for for so damn long.
And you're a far cry from an empire at peace.

I've got my knives and my heart up my sleeves,
but this weather is getting too nice for me to keep
an empire at peace.
'Cause my heart is my keep and you are threatening me.

Oh my god, you're the one I've been holding out
for for so damn long.
And you're a far cry from an empire...

Stornoway, Zorbing

Conkers shining on the ground,
The air is cooler
And I feel like I just started uni
Walking backwards to my van
You're at your window,
And I'm tripping every time I think of

Lying in your attic
I can feel the static
The storm has broken, Heavens open

Send my body out to work
But leave my senses
In orbit over south east London
Wind the window down and pinch
Me on the shoulder
Whilst I'll be driving off to dream of

Lying in your attic
I can feel the static
The storm has broken, Heavens open
So electrifying, Oh I'm nearly flying
Lost my heart between the sheets of lightning

I've been singing you this song,
Inside a bubble,
Been Zorbing through the streets of Cowley,
We were always meant to be,
Zorbing together, And I think its high time we started

Lying in your attic
I can feel the static
The storm is breaking, windows shaking
So electrifying, Oh I'm nearly flying
Lost my heart between the sheets of lightning

Lying in your attic
I can feel the static
The storm has broken, Heavens open
So electrifying, Oh I'm nearly flying
Lost my heart between the sheets of lightning

Conversation 16

I think the kids are in trouble
I do not know what all the troubles are for
give them ice for their fevers
you're the only thing I ever want anymore
we'll live on coffee and flowers
try not to wonder what the weather will be
I figured out what we're missing
tell you miserable things after you are asleep

now we'll leave the silver city
cause all the silver girls gave us black dreams
leave the silver city
cause all the silver girls
everything means everything

it's a hollywood summer
you never believe the shitty thoughts I think
we had friends out for dinner
when I said what I said I didn't mean anything
we belong in a movie
try to hold it together till our friends are gone
we should swim in a fountain
I do not want to disappoint anyone

now we'll leave the silver city
cause all the silver girls gave us black dreams
leave the silver city
to all the silver girls
everything means everything

I was afraid I'd eat your brains
I was afraid I'd eat your brains

Cause I'm evil
Cause I'm evil

I'm a confident liar
Have my head in the oven so you know where I'll be
I try to be more romantic
I wanna believe in everything you believe
I was less than amazing
I do not know what all the troubles are for
I fall asleep in your branches
you're the only thing I ever want anymore

now we'll leave the silver city
cause all the silver girls gave us black dreams
leave the silver city
to all the silver girls
everything means everything

I was afraid I'd eat your brains
I was afraid I'd eat your brains

Cause I'm evil
Cause I'm evil
Cause I'm evil

Electrelane

L'album è uscito alcuni anni fa, No Shouts No Calls.

You didn't know where to go
Walking around in this flag-waving town
I saw you waiting for a train
And you disappeared
Your face pressed up to the window
You went so far away
And I want to come there too
I want to be with you
I'm just waiting until you say these words :
"Come back, come back, come back, oh, to me...
I'm living near Gdánsk, there's a train, you'd be here soon
There's a life for me and you
The East means so many things
But it could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home
For you and me
It could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home
Come back, come back, come back, oh, to me..."
And if you'd ever say these words
I'd come to you, where you are
It's too hard to be apart
The East's not so far away
And it could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home
For you and me
It could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home
Come back, come back, come back
Oh, to me...

The xx

"Sensual music is so rarely about dialogue". Sean Fennessey

Little Moon di Grant-Lee Phillips

Anche in “Blind Tom” il pianoforte accompagna un testo ipnotico, “here’s a little song/I learnt it from the wind”, che rimane a lungo nella mente dell’ascoltatore.
Bellissima la canzone seguente “One morning” con il suo refrain: “one mornin’ fore the sun rise/ one mornin’ fore the light/ one mornin’ fore the man old rooster has cried/ one mornin’ fore the trucks roll, blowin’ their horn/ we gonna take the whole world/ on by a storm”. I want to see your treasure shine”.
Album stupendo, riascoltato già decine e decine di volte.
